Pepin’s Pharmaceutical Prattle for 04-04-2005

Quote of the day:   There are people whom one loves immediately and forever. Even to know they are alive in the world with one is quite enough.  Nancy Spain

 Good morning !

This week I am (practically) speechless. This picture will have to suffice. The faces of the people say more than I could. It was taken by my son during his semester in Rome. We remember John Paul II with great love and affection.  We grieve our loss but celebrate his gain!

Steve

1) Cancer treatments add up.

How much would you be willing to pay for more time? Some of those interviewed say “it was worth it!”

 2) Kiddie Zofran

Drug approved for babies as young as 1 month. Other drugs of this class have a pediatric indication … but not tested in children this young. This research should not gain them any extension of their patent.

 3) Free drugs costs are too high!

Going through submission for free drugs claimed to be too complicated. It must not be too complicated if you look at the sheer dollar volume of the drugs given away by Pharma companies. (If want to see for yourself then try the Free Drugs link from the PHARMWORKS main page)… not my site but at least an entrance into the proper conduit.

 4) Pills?...Pills? … we don’t need no stinkin’ pills

See the reasons that people gave for not taking their medications regularly. See anything that you can do to help improve compliance? I thought you would.

5) How are you going to manage the biotech needs of your plan?

Here are 5 steps….. at least SOMEONE is thinking ahead to the next 400+ drugs in this area to soon hit the market.

 6) Down and dirty down under?

Aussies try to “invalidate” the Lipitor patent. I think I’ll call my home brew “Foster’s” and sell it in quart oil cans…. (Can you think of anything else worthwhile from down under?)- [I’m sure I’ll hear from my Aussie subscribers on this one!]

 7) Bird Flu update.

North Korea has a current outbreak Link to N.Korean outbreak . Executive order allows for isolation of human cases. Vaccine is under development…. Hope it is effective and is available SOON!
